"Better Money"
Connect
If you suddenly had an extra $500 that you had to spend on something fun, what would you spend it on?
Take It In
What does this reveal about who God is?
- Read Matthew 6:19–24.
- Jesus says, “Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.” What do you think He is teaching us about the connection between what we value and what happens in our hearts?
- As you read this passage, what do you notice about what God seems to want for us, not just from us?
- Why do you think Jesus describes money as something that can become a master rather than simply warning us not to love it?
- After reading this passage, what is something you learn, or are reminded of, about who God is? Does anything challenge or expand the way you’ve thought about Him?
Talk About It
How do we practically apply this?
- If someone looked only at how you spend your time, energy, attention, and money, what might they assume matters most to you? Would their answer be accurate?
- How can comparison or constantly looking at what we don’t have affect our gratitude and generosity?
- What are some ways we can tell when money has moved from being a tool to becoming something that is influencing or controlling us?
- Ask yourself, "Where have I been keeping the final say for myself?” Is there a financial decision, priority, habit, or fear you need to surrender to God?

What are we doing this week?
Share with the group one practical step you can take this week to put God first and put money in its place.
Prayer Time
Take some time to pray over finances as a group and break the stronghold of money if needed. It can be generational, so take some time to really seek God's wisdom and conviction in this area of our lives!
